Cobb Safe 2018 will be a key community organizing event at which local residents will be able to connect with neighbors to collaborate on making our community safe over the coming year.  This event will be on April 14, 2018, from 10:00 till 4:00 at the Cobb Mountain Elementary School multipurpose room
 
We will hear from CalFire, the South Lake County Fire Protection District, the South Lake County Fire Safe Council and the Lake County Sheriff and we will be organizing our local neighborhoods for mutual aid and assistance in preparing for the upcoming fire season. Find out about the subsidize chipping program and how to organize a FireWise community with help from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
 
The Cobb Area Council is community-based, community built, answering to the community. When this community advisory council was initially formed by Cobb residents nearly two years ago, one of the highest priorities was to help build resilience in our neighborhoods and to prepare for any future emergencies.  This event on April 14th will be a significant step in improving community members organize and utilize resources to build strong communication, safe neighborhoods, and an emergency plan. Eliot Hurwitz, Chair of the Cobb Area Council, says, “The Cobb Area Council has been working since the Valley Fire to build cooperation among Cobb Area residents. This event is the fruit of much of this effort and will take us to the next level of mutual aid and local self-reliance.”
